The fact that sun exposure is among the top causes of wrinkles is known by most. However, did you know that scientific evidence shows that eating certain types of foods help to prevent the damage that sun does to our skin and decrease the risk of sunburn? In most cases, you need to be eating those foods 8-10 weeks before you hit the beach in order to get the best results, which means that now is most probably the best time to get started. Here is a list of foods you should be stocking up on:

  • Carotenoid-rich foods, such as kale, carrots, spinach, mangoes, apricots, beef greens, tomatoes.
  • Tocopherol-rich foods, such as avocados, egg yolks, spinach, sweet red peppers, kiwis.
  • Vitamin C-rich foods, such as papaya, bell peppers, strawberries, broccoli, pineapple.
  • Omega-3 rich food, such as flax seeds, walnuts, salmon,  mackerel.
  • Flavanoid-rich food, such as apples, oranges and green tea. These are among the fastest workers and positive results have been found after just 11 days of eating them.
